FERC Order 898 is the first major change to come through the uniform system of accounts in over a decade. It is primarily focused around renewable (solar, wind, and energy storage) plants as well as the O&M accounts associated with them.
Furthermore, FERC 898 modifies how organizations are classifying computer hardware, software, and communication equipment to try to get a more consistent treatment across the industry. The end goal is to provide more transparent FERC Reporting across Electric Utilities.
